   The villains are a group of Marxist reactionaries, Indian-American nationalists, and Arab terrorists who, among other things, want a US-Soviet war to punish the USSR for "submitting" to the US. The villain is Dressler, a neo-Nazi. He wants a US-Russian war because he believes it will result in the creation of a pan-European fascist state.
   Ryan had met Narmonov before the events of the book. Ryan meets Nemerov for the first time in the film.
   Ryan suffers from mild alcoholism during the novel. Ryan has no drinking problem.
   The bomb is placed at the Super Bowl in Denver. It is in Baltimore.
   The Druze farmer who finds the weapon asks his son to remove it so that he may continue working his fields. His son, aided with terrorist friends, remove the bomb for free but discover that it is a nuclear weapon and decide to use it for terrorism. The Syrian scrap collector who finds the weapons sells it to a South African arms dealer.
