The terrorists plan to explode the bomb at a football game in Denver, Colorado. The terrorists plan to explode the bomb at a football game in Baltimore, Maryland.
Ryan is watching the football game on TV in DC when the bomb explodes in Denver. Cabot is also in DC. Ryan is on a helicopter outside of Baltimore when the bomb explodes; the helicopter crashes. Cabot is with the President at the game and rushes him out of there.
Cabot does not die. Cabot dies after the bomb blast.
The President and his advisors (except Ryan) believe that Normanov has lost control of the Soviet military. This belief is proven false. Only Ryan and Cabot believe the possibility that Nemerov has lost control of the Russian military--the President and his advisors believe that Nemerov is in full control of the military. This is shown to be partially true, as several corrupt Russian soldiers prepare to strike the United States.
This doesn't happen. Spinnaker gives Ryan a gift to celebrate his engagement to Cathy.
