When they reach the top of the cliff, Vizzini unties the rope from around an oak tree leaving the man in black 300 feet below on a rock. |
Vizzini cuts the rope with a knife and it is tied around a rock. It leaves the man in black only 50 feet below. |

Vizzini doesn't want the man in black to see them with the Princess so he tells Inigo to kill the man in black once he reaches the top. Then he leaves. |
He believes the man in black has already seen them with the princess so he tells Inigo to wait and if he doesn't fall, to kill him with the sword. Inigo tells him he will use his left hand to make it interesting.
