In the Book In the Movie
   The journey down the river takes place in a steam boat. The soldiers use a Navy Patrol boat.
   The story begins with Marlow recounting an adventure he had. The story is told in real time.
   Marlow starts the trip with the Belgian Trading company Manager, three other White men and a crew of African Cannibals. Willard's boat is commanded by George "Chief" Phillips. Also present are Lance Johnson , Jay "Chef" Hicks and Tyrone "Mr. Clean" Miller.
   Marlow was a captain of a river steamboat in Africa. Captain Willard is a special forces vet in Vietnam.
   An african member of the crew is killed when the boat is attacked by unseen natives on the shore. Marlow remembers him fondly. The boat is attacked and Chief Phillips is hit with a spear. He tries to kill Willard, but Willard smothers him first.
