   Barbie lived in Chester's Mill before Dome Day. He is shown burying someone, and doesn't know anyone in town.
   Julia Shumway is in her 40's and has been divorced for 10 years. She is much younger. She is married, but her husband is out of town.
   The local paper is called the Democrat. It is named the Independent.
   Big Jim is Chester's Mill's Second Selectman. He is a councilman.
   Reverend Coggins has secret deals with Big Jim. Duke Perkins deals with Big Jim.
   Linda Everett is a part time cop, married mother of two. She is a full time cop with no kids who is engaged.
   Rusty Everett is a doctor. He is a firefighter.
   Junior Rennie has a brain tumor that caused him to be a sociopath. He is very jealous.
   Angie McCain is killed by Junior Rennie in the beginning of the story. She lives and has a younger brother and has a relationship with Junior.
   Dodee Sanders works at the Sweetbriar Rose. She works at WYBS, the local radio station.
   This doesn't happen. There is a lesbian couple featured who have a daughter.
   The Dome suddenly appears but is invisible and no one notices it until they start crashing into it. There is an earthquake and strong winds prior to the dome forming.
   The story begins with Claudette flying a plane that crashes. The story begins with Barbie burying Julia Shumway's husband.
   A woodchuck is cut in half by the dome. A cow is cut in half by the dome.
   Several of the police in town are away for a training exercise with the firefighters when the dome appears. All the cops are there and only the firefighters are away from town.
   Linda is inside the dome with her husband Rusty. Rusty is one of the firefighters caught outside the dome and away from his girlfriend.
   The local radio station is WCIK and plays Christian music. It is a rock station named WYBS.
   The TV's work inside the dome and the locals watch CNN at the Sweetbriar Rose. The TV signals cannot enter the dome.
   Sound can travel through the dome and people on either side can talk to each other. Sound doesn't get through at all.
   Angie McCain and Janelle Everett suffer seizures. Joe McCallister adn Norrie have seizures.
   After a seizure Janelle yes "It's the Great Pumpkin's fault." After seizures they yell "Pink stars falling in lines."
   There are very few deaths and injuries because of the dome. The hospital is full of people who were hurt by the dome.
   Air, water, lasers and radio signals get through the dome. Nothing can penetrate the dome.
   Paul Randolph becomes the sheriff after Duke dies. Paul loses it and is killed and Linda becomes the sheriff.
   Norrie is a life long resident of Chester's Mill. Norrie's parents are taking her to a camp for troubled teens and are stopped in Chester's Mill for gas when the dome comes down.
   Angie and Joe are not related. Angie and Joe are brother and sister.
   Phil Bushey is a meth cook. Phil Bushey is a popular radio DJ.
   Duke Perkins is Police Chief. Duke Perkins is Sheriff.
   Rusty and Freddy are not related. Rusty and Freddy are brothers.
   The barrier walls conform exactly to the Chester's Mill town border. The dome is round.
   Ollie Dinsmore is a young boy. Ollie Dinsmore is a man in his sixties.
   Maxine (a character not found in the book) runs a gambling event that is similar to Fight Club where participants gamble necessities for the chance to win luxury items.
   Julia Shumway is the editor of the Democrat, a paper that has been in her family for generations. Julia Shumway is the new editor of the paper, unknown to the town as yet.
   Duke Perkins died instantly on Dome Day when the Dome came down. Duke Perkins is alive and well in the television show.
   Phil "the cook" Bushy is considered missing, though he is in fact hiding in the local christian radio station cooking crystal meth. Is described as caucasian. Phil Bushy is the Deejay at the local rock station, later becomes a volunteer police officer. Is african american.
