This Spoils the Ending
In the Book In the Movie
Katniss feels a closeness to Rue because she reminds her of her sister. She feels close, but doesn't mention why.
Once Katniss starts the game the focus is solely on her and her survival. During the games we see much of the behind the scenes work done to keep the games interesting. The president takes part and communicates with the Seneca regarding it.
Thresh is murdered. It is assumed that he is killed by Cato. Thresh is killed by the mutant dogs.
Nothing happens to the Game Maker until the sequel. We see his punishment as he is forced into a trap like he set for the games.
The end features dead tributes that have been reincarnated as mutant dogs. The creatures are not said to be reborn tributes. They are simply wild beasts that fight the other competitors of the Hunger Games.
