   Aunt Marge's dog, Ripper drinks tea from a saucer. She lets him drink the brandy directly from her own glass.
   When Marge gets inflated she floats to the ceiling of the Dursley's home. He actually floats out the window and goes high into the sky.
   Harry tells the driver of the Knight bus that his name is Neville Longbottom. He doesn't reveal his identity.
   Ginny and Neville go to visit Harry, Ron and Hermione on the train when the dementors attack. Harry, Ron and Hermione are alone when they are attacked.
   There are several Hippogriffs present during the first care of magical creatures lesson with Hagrid. There is only one, Buckbeak.
   Peeves tells them about Sirius attacking the portrait of the Fat Lady. The Fat Lady is the one that tells them about it from the safety of another frame.
   Harry learn all about the Marauder's map. He doesn't.
   Cho Chang is a member of the Ravenclaw Quidditch team. She doesn't appear.
   Harry's glasses are covered in raindrops during a Quidditch match, and Hermione uses a spell to help him see during a match against Hufflepuff. They wear goggles.
   Harry falls off leaving Cedric to capture the snitch. Harry gets struck by lightning and Cedric doesn't get the snitch.
   Harry sees the Grim watching him from the stands during the match. He sees a cloud shaped like the Grim when he is flying on his broom.
   Harry gets the Firebolt for Christmas. He gets it at the end of the film.
   Ron and Harry get into a big fight with Hermione about the Firebolt and Scabbers. There isn't a big fight. Ron argues a little with Hermione.
   On two separate occasions, Harry goes to Hogsmeade. He only goes once.
   On one trip to Hogsmeade, Harry throws balls of mud at Draco and his friends under cover of the Invisibility cloak. The one trip he takes is during the winter, so he throws snowballs instead.
   Ron, Hermione and Harry are together at the Three Broomsticks Inn when they overhear Fudge discussing Sirius and James' connection to each other. Harry is hiding under the table. Harry is alone and invisible when he overhears the conversation.
   Snape tries three times to get the Marauder's map work for him. He only tries once.
   When Harry learns to ward off the Dementors with his patronus, he imagines how happy he felt when he got to leave the Dursleys. It took him two failed attempts before he was successful. He only fails once before he uses a memory of his parents to produce the patronus.
   Hermione slaps Malfoy in the face. She pulls her wand first, then punches him in the nose.
   Ron is shown to be brave during stressful situations and Hermione is terrified. They are the opposite.
   Ron's leg is broken when Sirius, as the dog drags him by it. The dog grabs him by the arm, and his leg is broken when he tries to use the roots of the Willow to stay put.
   Ron tells Sirius that he will have to kill he and Hermione as well as Harry because they aren't going to allow it. Hermione says this to Sirius.
   Harry, Ron and Hermione jinx Snape all at once and he is knocked unconscious. Only Harry jinxes him.
   Snape is out cold when Lupin turns into a wolf. He wakes up and protects the three of them from Lupin.
   Hermione uses Alohomora to save Sirius. She uses Bombarda.
   Hermione, Harry and Sirius are together during the dementors attack. Hermione isn't there.
   Harry is alone when he uses the patronus to save the past versions of himself, Hermione and Sirus from the dementors. Hermione and Harry are together when this happens.
   During Harry's exam, Trelawney goes into a trance nad tells her second prophecy. At the end of a regular divination class, Harry notices a crystal ball that Hermione had knocked over and brings it back in and finds Trelawney in a trance.
   Sirius is locked inside Professor Flitwick's office. He is locked in a cellar at the top of a tower.
   Harry, Hermione and Buckbeak hide inside Hagrid's Hut to avoid being attacked by Lupin when he has turned into a werewolf. They don't. Hermione howls to distract Lupin from attacking Harry's past self. Lupin then attempts to attack Harry and Hermione, but they are saved by Buckbeak.
   Crookshanks plays a major role. He doesn't. He is hardly mentioned.
   Harry overhears Mr. and Mrs. Weasley arguing inside their room in the Leaky Cauldron about whether they should tell Harry about Sirius Black's intentions to kill him. Mr. Weasley attempts to relay the information to Harry as he boards the Hogwarts Express, but Harry admits what he overheard. Mr. Weasley tells Harry of Sirius Blacks's intentions in private at the bar in the Leaky Cauldron.
   When Snape calls Hermione ''an insufferable know-it-all'' in class, Ron gets angry with him and receives detention. He agrees with him and whispers to Harry, ''He's got a point you know''.
   Harry did receive his birthday presents at the Dursleys. Not mentioned in the book.
   Does not happen The scene in the Gryffindor Dormitory where the boys try out the various Honeydukes sweets.
