In the Book In the Movie
Peter attends UVA and Lara Jean attends UNC. Lara Jean attends NYU, Peter attends Stanford; she has high hopes for the future.
Dan dances with each of his daughters to Stevie Wonder's "Isn't she lovely". He then dances with Trina and later with Haven. He does not. Dan has the typical dance with his bride and later the guests join them on the dance floor. Haven does not appear in the film.
Dan decides to propose to Trina while on a hike to a river. Peter, Lara Jean and Kitty sneak (Dan knows) to the river ahead of them to make a video of the proposal. Trina gags on a cough drop when Dan proposes, but she happily says yes. Lara Jean sees her Dad at Trina's house across the street through a window proposing to her.
