When Stormy dies, she has a funeral in Rhode Island. Lara Jean speaks at a memorial service for Stormy in Belleview nursing home. This does not happen.
Peter and a girl named Ashanti Dickson are prom king and queen. Lara Jean is glad it isn't Gen; as the prom king and queen dance together. Peter Kazinsky and Emily Nussbam are the prom king and queen.
Peter and Lara Jean meet some friends after prom at a restaurant. Her friends surprise her with a birthday party. The song “If Your Were Here” from 16 Candles plays and Lara Jean loves everything. Lara Jean sneaks Peter into her bedroom after her “curfew”. They make out in her bed, but when she starts to take off Peter's clothes, he stops her. Peter resents her going to college in NY and thinks their relationship will not survive, so he dumps her on prom night.
After sending the deposit for William and Mary, Lara Jean is accepted at UNC. She tours the UNC campus with Chris; both their cell phones are dead so she is unable to tell her dad that she will be late going home. She gets home at 3am and her dad is very upset; but less upset when he learns she got into UNC. This does not happen in the film.
When Peter learns about the trip to South Korea during the summer, he is concerned because this will give them only two weeks together after she returns home. This does not happen in the film as the vacation in South Korea took place prior to her senior year.
