Ichabod Crane is a schoolteacher in Tarry Town.	Crane is a constable from New York who goes to Sleepy Hollow to investigate a series of murders.
The place where Crane and the townspeople reside is called Greensburgh, or Tarry Town. Sleepy Hollow is a nearby valley.	Sleepy Hollow is the name of the town.
Crane is an extremely superstitious man whose indulging in tales of the supernatural often leads to him being scared at night.	Crane is presented as a skeptic who relies on scientific methods to solve the murders.
The story ends with Crane being attacked by the Horseman, then going missing.	About a third into the film, Crane is chased by a fake Horseman revealed to be Brom in disguise. Crane is surprised, but simply goes on to continue his work.
