   Nina was a size six and slender when she married Andrew. She put on about 50 pounds and wore a size 14 as a result of overeating when abused by her husband Nina is slender throughout the film.
   Nina tells Enzo that Andrew is abusing her, but he is unable to help. This does not happen in the film.
   Enzo warns Millie that it is dangerous to stay in the Winchester home. Enzo does not warn Millie, he refuses to talk to her.
   Andrew receives a box of baby toys from his mother. This makes him upset. It is part of Nina’s plan to make Andrew reject her. Andrew receives a box of heirloom China dinner plates from his mother. Millie accidentally breaks on of them.
   Nina hired Millie because believes that Millie will kill Andrew after he starts abusing her. Nina hires Millie to make Andrew fall in love with Millie, then drive Nina away and divorce her.
   Mille was sent to a school for kids with disciplinary problems after assaulting a boy and vandalizing a teacher’s car; she was provoked each time. She killed a boy who was raping one of her friends in school. She is out on parole after serving ten years. Millie was sent to prison for killing a boy who was raping one of her friends in a private school. She is out on parole after serving ten years.
   During most of their marriage, Andrew punished Nina in various ways when Cece was not perfectly behaved or when Nina did something he did not like. Nina was tortured in the attic room several times a year during their marriage after Andrew framed Nina for an attempted murder suicide of her and Cece. Cece is afraid of Andrew and knows her mom disappears after Cece makes Andrew angry. Nina was punished by Andrew for not getting her hair dyed; she had to pull out 200 strands of hair with the follicle intact. Later he framed her for an attempted murder suicide of Cece. Cece is not afraid of Andrew.
   Andrew tells Nina to leave him after she finds about he went to see a musical with Millie. Andrew locks Millie in the attic bedroom and forces her pile three heavy books on her abdomen for three hours to punish her. Andrew tells Nina to leave him after she finds about he went to see a musical with Millie. Andrew locks Millie in the attic bedroom and forces her to cut herself 21 times on the abdomen with a broken piece of China.
   Nina retrieves her daughter from summer camp and goes to Enzo for help. Enzo had previously tried to help Nina run away by getting fake documents and money, it did not work. Enzo is motivated to help Nina because his sister was abused by a man; Enzo had to flee Italy after he got revenge. Nina gets Cece form summer camp and they head out alone. She never asks for, or gets assistance from Enzo.
   Nina and Enzo have sex while they are together after she leaves Andrew. This does not happen in the film.
   When Andrew enters the attic bedroom to release Millie, she sprays him in the face with pepper spray that Nina had left in the bucket that the women had relieved themselves in. Millie locks Andrew in the room. When Andrew enters the attic bedroom to release Millie, she stabs him in the neck with a knife that Nina had left in the room. She escapes and locks Andrew in the room.
   Millie forces Andrew to lay on his back with the three heavy books on his groin as torture. She also makes him pull four of his own teeth with pliers. Millie makes Andrew pull one of his teeth with pliers while threatening to burn the house down and smashing the rest of his mother’s China outside of the door.
   Millie looks up on the internet to find out how long it takes a person to die of thirst; she keeps Andrew in the attic bedroom for five days until he dies of thirst. Nina returns to the house after Enzo tells her she must assist Millie. Cece convinces Nina to go back to help Millie. When Nina returns home, she unlocks the attic bedroom door thinking Millie is trapped inside. Andrew charges out. Andrew says he will take Nina back; she refuses. Andrew tries to kill Nina, but Millie pushes him off of the top of the steps to his death down onto the floor below. Nina drops a light bulb onto the floor near Andrew’s body to make it appear that he was trying to change a light bulb and fell to his death.
   Nina sends Millie away and says she will take the blame for Andrew’s death. Detective Conner concludes that Andrew accidentally locked himself in the attic bedroom while alone in the house and died of thirst. Conner had a sister named Katherine whose life was ruined when abused by Andrew when he was engaged to her. Conner was unable to bring Andrew to justice due to his wealthy family’s influence. Police officer Jessica Connors questions Nina about Andrew’s fall. She notices he is missing tooth, but dismisses it. She reports that the incident was an accident. She tells Nina that Andrew abused her sister years ago and was unable to do anything about it.
   At Andrew’s funeral, Andrew’s mother Evelyn talks to Nina about Andrew’s missing teeth. She tells her that she punished Andrew when he was young by pulling one of his baby teeth with pliers. She knows Andrew did not pull his own teeth and thanks Nina for teaching him a lesson. At Andrews funeral, His mother Evelyn tells Nina that if a person cannot take care of their teeth, they do not deserve them. This was the same thing Andrew said to Nina about her hair.
   Enzo says goodbye to Nina after the funeral and wishes her luck. Enzo does not appear in the film after he is fired by Andrew right after Nina left.
   After Andrew’s funeral, Millie and Enzo stay together. Nina pays Millie one year’s salary. Millie has some odd jobs during that year. After Andrew's funeral (where he is eulogized as a pillar of the community), Nina gives Millie a $100,000 check before leaving with Cece to start a new life.
   A year later, Millie is interviewed by Lisa Killeffer after being recommended by Enzo and Nina. Lisa has bruises on her arm and wants to hire Millie. Millie says she can help Lisa. Some time later, Nina recommends Millie's services to a friend. The friend implies that her husband is abusive. Millie asks when she can start.
