Bilbo went into the secret tunnel twice. The first time he saw Smaug and took a cup back to the dwarves. When Smaug realized this, he flew out to find the theif. The dwarves heard him coming and hid in the tunnel and Smaug ate 6 of their ponies. The next day on his second trip, Bilbo talked with Smaug. After taunting him, the dragon sneaked out, destroyed the secret entrance while the dwarves were hiding in the tunnel and flew off to laketown. |
