   Tommy Williams is moved to a different prison after Andy tells the warden that he has information that might free him. Tommy is shot and killed by Hadley under the pretense that he was trying to escape.
   Red is a white Irish man. He is black, but jokes that he is Irish.
   There are three different wardens. There is only one.
   The prisoners watch Rita Hayworth in "The Lost Weekend" The movie is Gilda.
   The Warden resigns after Andy's escape. The Warden shoots himself in the head in his office after his corruption is discovered because of Andy.

Red DOES tell Andy what he did; (quote: "Murder." "Only guilty man in here."

The warden doesn't commit suicide at the end of the book; he continues as warden. In the book, Red is not a Black man; he has red hair (hence the nickname).

in the movie they said how much andy got from the bank when he escaped, but in the novella it didnt.
