   Andy has a poster of Rita Hayworth, Raquel Welch and finally Linda Rondstadt. He doesn't have Linda Rondstadt.
   Red goes on a whim to the place where Andy told him about. He looks around for days and eventually finds the box with the money and the letter from Andy. Andy specifically tells Red where to go and what rock to look under to find the package.
   Andy's made up identity is named Peter Stevens Andy'd made up identity is named Randall Stephens
   Tommy Williams is moved to a different prison after Andy tells the warden that he has information that might free him. Tommy is shot and killed by Hadley under the pretense that he was trying to escape.
   The prisoners watch Rita Hayworth in "The Lost Weekend" The movie is Gilda.
   Andy gives Red cuff-links for his parole rejection present. He gives him a harmonica.
   Red gets out of prison and finds Andy's note to meet him in Mexico. Red gets on a Bus and the story ends before he finds him. Red and Andy meet on the beach in Mexico.
   Boggs is mentioned once and is transferred out of Shawshank. Several "Sisters" take turns going after Andy. He torrments Andy for a long time. Boggs plays the part of all the Sisters. After Andy helps the Guards with their taxes, Boggs is nearly beaten to death and is transferred out to a medical prison.
   The Warden rips down the poster, revealing the hole in the wall. He throws a rock in frustration and realizes it went through. He then tears it open and finds the hole.
   The Warden resigns after Andy's escape. The Warden shoots himself in the head in his office after his corruption is discovered because of Andy.
   Andy is suicidal and that's why he says he owned the gun no mention of suicidal thoughts
   Brooks gets out of prison and dies in an old age home. He gets out and can't handle life outside of prison and hangs himself.
   Andy crosses the border in McNary. It is Fort Hancock.
   Captain Hadley has a heart attack and retires long before Andy escapes. Hadley is still the lead guard and is arrested after Andy escapes because of his abuse of prisoners.
   There are several lead guards during Andy's time at Shawshank. Captain Hadley is the lead guard for the entire duration of Andy's stay.
   The beer for Andy's "coworkers" was "piss warm" In the movie the beer was cold
   The story happens over a thirty year period. The time period is less than that.
   Near beginning of book Red says: "when time draws out like a blade" It is near the end, while Andy is escaping from Shawshank.
   Red is a white Irish man. He is black, but jokes that he is Irish.
   Red tells the reader what he did to end up in Shawshank. You never find out what Red's crime was.
   Andy's friend invests money for him. He uses the money to live in Mexico. Andy deposits the Warden's money into many different accounts in an alias that he uses to collect a large sum of money. He uses that in Mexico.
   There are three different wardens. There is only one.
   An inmate has a pet bird. Brooks is the one with the pet bird.
   Andy had a cellmate for eight months. He complained of a draft, presumably from the hole in the wall. Andy is alone in his cell for the duration.
   Andy uses two rock hammers during his excavation of the rock wall. He only uses one.
   Andy is a short, neat little man. Andy is portrayed by Tim Robbins who is 6'5"
