This Spoils the Ending
In the Book In the Movie
The carryall never shows up to carry away the harvester due to sabotage at another location. Paul stays in the ornithopter during the rescue. Several men are left behind during the rescue; they are Fremen who were observing the spice harvesting and simply walked away from the worm. While the Duke, Paul and Liet-Kynes are on a tour of spice harvesting, they rescue a harvester crew when their carryall malfunctions and is unable to respond when a worm threatens the harvester. Paul is distracted by the effects of the spice on the surface of the sand when directing rescue efforts on the desert surface and has to be brought back to the Duke's ornithopter by Gurney Hallack. No Fremen were on the harvester.
The Duke hosts a dinner with some of the locals. One of the female guests attempts to seduce Paul; it does not work. This does not happen.
The Duke sent a suicide squad to Gendi Prime to destroy the Baron's supply of spice. The Atreides also hid their private supply of nuclear weapons. Nukes are banned in warfare against humans. Nothing about these details in the film.
The Atreides solders (including Duncan) have trouble adjusting to Dune and have discipline problems due to missing their homes and families on Caladan. Jessica lectures Hawat in his failings. This does not happen and there are no discipline problems among the Atreides.
When the Harkonnens attack, some the Atreides flee to caves where they are sealed in (to their deaths) by mortars. Most of the Atreides are killed fighting within the shield wall.
