This Spoils the Ending
In the Book In the Movie
In the book Nick meets Gatsby per chance while just sitting at one of Gatsbys party, while a gentleman casually starts talking to him, only to learn it is Gatsby himself. However in the movie he sends a man in a black suit to find nick and bring him into his office. the whole time nick is like you know I was invited, perhaps you have the wrong guy...also in the book they only talk about Jordon and resetting the ball during a tournament, while in the movie they actually show it, but briefly
This is not in the novel. Gatsby gives a green ring to Daisy as a prsent that she will not wear. So he does itself.
This (quite kitschy item) is not in the novel. The film is said to have plundered the literary work. With such additives it is to my mind indeed a far to free interpretation of the novel. Gatsby and Daisy dance while Gatsy is wearing his old uniform.
When Gatsby is shot he sinks to the bottom of the pool. He is shot, but he floats on his air mattress.
