This Spoils the Ending
In the Book In the Movie
Nick first talks to Gatsby during the first party he attends and doesn't realize it is Gatsby he is talking to. Nick is summoned to meet Gatsby at his party.
Myrtle was said to be ugly and overweight. She is skinny and attractive.
This (quite kitschy item) is not in the novel. The film is said to have plundered the literary work. With such additives it is to my mind indeed a far to free interpretation of the novel. Gatsby and Daisy dance while Gatsy is wearing his old uniform.
Tom hits Myrtle because she mentions Daisy's name. Myrtle says that Tom is clumsy and this causes him to get angry and hit her.
The man that Nick refers to as "Owl Eyes" who he sees at one of Gatsby's parties. He later drives his car into a ditch. He doesn't appear.
