Scott reads Megan's emails and discovers her affair. He doesn't find out that way and suspects her when she returns from being with another man.
Megan's baby becomes part of the story with headlines in the paper. We hear the story but nothing becomes of it.
After taking a long time to talk to the red headed man, he tells her about Tom's affair. He tells her nothing.
Tom and Rachel interact a lot throughout the story. He is sympathetic to her but also shown to be a bad guy. They run into each other a few times but he isn't central.
Tom tells lies about his being in the military and about his relationship with his parents. This is never mentioned.
