   Kronos is a central villian. He doesn't appear.
   The story begins with Percy already in boarding school. He is at home first and then goes to the school when his mother can't protect him.
   Annabeth fights with a celestial bronze knife. She uses a sword as well as a bow and arrow.
   Percy and Annabeth are 12 years old. They are 17.
   Medusa is killed after seeing her reflection in a crystal ball. An iPod is used to reflect her image.
   They are attracted to Aunty Em's by a smell. They go to find a pearl
   The entrance to the Underworld in the fictional DOA Records building. It is in the Hollywood sign.
   Annabeth has blond hair. It is brown.
   They ride to Las Vegas in the back of a truck that transports animals. They drive.
   She doesn't appear. Persephone is in the film.
   No one knows who Percy's father is in the beginning. They know it is Poseidon.
   The kids can sometimes hear they God parent's voice in their head telling them what they should do. They don't and they make their decisions alone.
   Percy's sword, Riptide, was a pen with a cap. The pen was a spring loaded pen that was clickable.
   Percy can never lose his pen sword. It will always return to his pocket. This isn't mentioned.
   Clarisse is a major character in the book, and is the main character in the Sea of Monsters. She fights with Percy in the bathrooms. Clarisse is not mentioned or seen at all.
   Ares steals the lightning bolt and Hades' Helm of Darkness to cause WWIII. Luke stole the lightning bolt, acting of his own accord.
   Percy hears a prophecy that guides him on his quest. No prophecy is mentioned.
   Percy sees the Fates cut a string, thereby sealing the fate of an ominous death. The Fates are neither seen or mentioned.
   Luke has a scar on his cheek from the quest that he went on several before Percy came to camp. When he comes back unsuccessful Kronos uses it as a chance to make him hate the gods and his father in particular and rise up against them Luke doesn't have a scar and his quest is never mentioned
   Grover is white Grover is black
   the gods are modernized. Zeus in pinstriped suit, Ares dressed as a biker and riding a motorcycle etc. they are either in clothing that has nothing to do with them or in armor.
   The Locus hotel casino has only a few people, all are kids and it filled with video games a bungee jumping bridge, artificial ski field and a lot more. The people running it let them leave without it turning into a fight. it is packed with adults. has mainly gambling machines. the people wont let them leave and the have to get in a prize car and drive away.
   Percy fights with a celestial bronze knife.
   Percy fights Echidna and her Chimera atop the St. Louis Arch, Procrustes at a water bed store, the three Furies multiple times, and encounters Cerberus at the gates to the Underworld. Percy fights the Hydra at the Parthenon in Nashville, Tennessee. The Hydra expels fire instead of acid. Percy also encounters a Fury (Mrs. Dodds a.k.a. Alecto). Yet Alecto's sisters, Megaera and Tisiphone, are never mentioned. Also, there was no Cerberus, Chimera, Echidna or Procrustes in the movie. Though there are three Hellhounds that Percy & co. encounter in the Underworld.

Ares didnt steal the lightning bolt, Luke did and gave it to Ares. Gods can't steal from each other
