In the Book In the Movie
Leland is on his way to Los Angeles to visit his Daughter. McClain is visiting his estranged wife.
Sgt. Al Powell is a young man of 22. He is middle aged.
Leland strikes up a flirtation with a Stewardess as he arrives in LA. He gets her phone number and talks to her via CB radio while he is in the building. A stewardess stares McClaine up and down when he is getting off the plane. Nothing else happens.
The purpose of the terrorist takeover was to allow the West German radical group to uncover an illegal arms shipment Klaxxon was making to a Chilean dictatorship. They are only acting like terrorists to get the power shut down by the FBI so they can break into the safe and steal over 640 million dollars in bearer bonds.
Leland is picked up and brought to the Klaxxon building by an older nameless limo driver. He isn't heard from again. McClaine is picked up by a young driver named Argyle. He is seen throughout the movie because he is waiting in the basement for McClaine to come down.
