In the Book In the Movie
Donald Gennaro, who survived the first book, is mentioned to have died of dysentery prior to the book's events. Gennaro was killed by a T-Rex in the first film and is not mentioned.
Ian Malcolm goes to Isla Sorna accompanied by a team consisting of Sarah Harding, Eddie Carr and Doc Thorne, and later encounters paleontologist Richard Levine. Malcolm is accompanied by Sarah Harding, Eddie Carr and Nick van Owen. Thorne and Levine do not appear.
The book's introduction has Ian Malcolm teaching at a university before Richard Levine convinces him to investigate Costa Rica once more. The film opens with a rich family's boat stopping at a Costa Rican island and their daughter being attacked by compys, a scene taken from the first book.
The book's main antagonist is Lewis Dodgson, a geneticist initially seen in the first book (and film) who works for rival genetics company Biosyn. The film's main antagonist is Peter Ludlow, a businessman and nephew of John Hammond who takes control of InGen.
A pair of unusually intelligent kids named Kelly and Arby stow away on Malcolm's expedition. Only Kelly stows away.
