In the Book In the Movie
Louis is depressed and wants to die after his pious brother dies. He is depressed because of the death of his wife and infant child.
Claudia is between 4 and 5 years old when she is made into a vampire. Kirsten Dunst was 12 years old when she portrayed Claudia.
After Claudia is killed, Louis joins Armand and travels around Eastern Europe together for many years. Louis cannot forgive Armand for his part in Claudia's death and he leaves Paris and roams around alone for many years.
When Louis finishes his story, the boy asks to be turned into a Vampire. Louis is furious and sucks his blood til he is unconscious. Louis throttles the boy, but does not drink his blood.
The interviewer wakes up and jumps in his car to try and find Lestat. He gets in his car to try and find Lestat, but as he is driving on the Golden Gate Bridge, Lestat jumps out from the back seat and drains his blood. He says he will give the boy the choice he never had. He drives off with the radio blaring Sympathy for the Devil.
After Claudia and Madeleine are destroyed, Louis encounters Lestat at the Théâtre des Vampires, where he has testified to Armand that Claudia had tried to kill him. Lestat never appears in Paris after Louis sets him on fire in New Orleans.
Louis and Claudia find a race of mindless vampires in Transylvania. They don't come across any vampires until they reach Paris.
Lestat cares for his aging father and brings him to Louis' plantation when Louis first turns. Lestat is alone and never mentions his past.
Armand uses mind control to influence Louis decision to make Madeline into a vampire to care for Claudia so Armand and Louis can be together. Louis does it of his own accord.
Lestat cannot fly. When Lestat first drinks from Louis he flies with him up into the air and then lets him fall into the water.
Claudia poisoned the children she gave Lestat in an effort to weaken him before she slit his throat. Drinking blood from a dead person has no effect. Lestat indicates that drinking the blood from a body that has already died might be fatal to a vampire.
This is not mentioned here, but in later books Vampires can cut their hair and have it grow back when they sleep. Claudia cuts off her curls in a tantrum. Her hair instantly reverts to its previous length.
