This Spoils the Ending
In the Book In the Movie
Lucy Westenra is shown to be a typically prim and proper young lady, even more innocent than Mina. Lucy is portrayed as a perverted, sexually voracious young woman.
Van Helsing deduces that Dracula's three vampire brides were merely innocent village girls and Dracula's victims when he sees the peaceful expressions they make after he kills them. No inference is shown to be made by van Helsing when he kills the vampire brides.
Jonathan Harker's hair turns gray at Seward's asylum after the Count places Harker in an trance and consumes Mina's blood. Harker returns from Transylvania with gray hair, apparently as consequence of having been bitten by the vampire brides
In the book, Mina suggests to Abraham Van Helsing that he hypnotize her in order to find out where Dracula is, and he does. In the film Van Helsing does it to Mina without her suggesting to him.
The book ends when Jonathan Harker and Quincy Morris chase down Dracula's coffin, stab his heart and behead him before the sun sets. They are unable to reach his coffin before the sun sets, and so Dracula breaks free for one final struggle in the castle's chapel.
