   Paul Kemp takes a flight from New York to Puerto Rico. He has already arrived.
   Paul is starting at the same time as Yeamon, a new reporter. Lotterman is talking with him when Paul arrives. Yeamon doesn't appear. Lotterman is in his office on the phone when Paul arrives.
   Paul and Sala take two girls out. Paul has sex with one of them on the beach. This doesn't happen.
   Paul sees Chenault on the plane. She winds up being the girlfriend of Yeamon. Paul meets Chenault when she is skinny dipping in the water outside of his hotel. Yeamon doesn't exist, so she is the girlfriend of Sanderson.
   Sala and Kemp don't have a fridge in their apartment. They do.
   Lotterman has a heart attack and dies. He leaves the newspaper, but doesn't die.
   Paul Kemp accompanies Zimburger on his assignment to the island he intends on turning into a tourist paradise. Sala tags along with Kemp, for a break from the Puerto Rican police.
   Paul saves up funds from writing for the newspaper and odd writing jobs to buy his car and an apartment for himself. Sanderson lets him have a car from his garage and was going to have a place arranged for him. Consequently after the drama at the Carnival he takes back the keys of the car he gave to Kemp.
   Paul prepares to leave San Juan. He calls and books a flight on Pan Am. He steals Sanderson's boat and sails away to New York.
