   Chillingworth dies a year after Dimmesdale of natural causes. Chillingworth hangs himself in shame after realizing that his acts have been blamed on the Indians.
   Hester and Pearl leave Boston. Hester returns many years later to live her life in her old cottage. Pearl, Hester and Dimmesdale leave together.
   Hester continues to wear the Scarlet A for the rest of her life. Pearl plays with the A and eventually drops it on the ground and Hester doesn't put it back on.
   The book begins with Hester on the scaffolding. It begins with Hester arriving in the new world. It shows her meeting and falling in love with Dimmesdale.
   The story is told in the third person. The story is told through the eyes of Pearl.
