The group stops for the night and David spends time listening to the static on the radio. He believes he hears the word "Hartford". He whispers the words "Hartford" and "Hope" into his son's ear as he sleeps. |
The group runs out of gas and David takes the gun with four bullets and kills Billy as he wakes up then the other two. He leaves the car and screams for the mist monsters to come and get him. Soldiers appear who have been burning the mist monsters and rescuing survivors. David drops to his knees screaming.
