The American hostages are staying with the Canadian Ambassador Ken Taylor, and a Canadian embassy employee, John Sheardown. They all stay with the Ambassador.
Canada was heavily involved in most aspects of the escape planning and execution. This is all downplayed in favor of giving the actual credit to the CIA.
The Canadian's purchased the plane tickets which were waiting at the airport for the escape. The US government removes approval for the plan at the last minute and the tickets for the escape are in jeopardy.
The trip through the airport goes off without a hitch. There are several roadblocks along the way. They are stopped by guards and someone has to speak Farsi to get them through.
When Mendez tells Chambers the idea he decides on the script for "The Lord of Light" Mendez picks the script for "Argo" out of a pile.
