Fast Eddie runs a pool hall. He teams up with Minnesota Fats on TV to play pool. The film is completely different from the book; Eddie sells liquor for a living. Eddie takes Vincent under his wing to show him how to hustle pool. He later abandons Vince and tells him to go on his own.
Eddie plays in a tournament and defeats younger players. Eddie enters a tournament in Atlantic City where he beats Vincent. When he learns Vincent threw the game for money, he quits playing in the tournament.
