   The story takes place in the mid-1950s. The story takes place in the early 1970s.
   Mr. Big has the alter ego of Baron Samedi. Mr. Big has the alter ego of Dr. Kananga.
   Felix Leiter is captured by Mr. Big's men and fed to sharks. He survives but has several of his limbs amputated. Felix does not play a prominent role in the movie and no harm comes to him.

   Bond is sent to America to investigate gold smuggling. Bond is sent to America to investigate the deaths of several agents.
