In the Book In the Movie
   The story takes place early in 19th century England. It is the late 20th century and it is in America.
   Estella is Miss Havisham's adopted daughter. Estella is Dinsmoor's niece.
   Pip is at the graveyard visiting the graves of his parents and siblings on Christmas Eve when he is grabbed by the convict. He makes Pip get him food and a file to remove his shackles. Finn is playing on the beach when the prisoner jumps out of the water and grabs him and forces him to get food and bolt cutters to remove his leg irons.
   Miss Havisham lives in the Satis House. Dinsmoor lives at Paradiso Perduto.
   Miss Havisham asks Pip's uncle to find a playmate for Estella. Dinsmoor calls Maggie, Finn's sister, to have Finn be Estella's playmate.
   Pip is an apprentice blacksmith when Mr. Jaggers, a lawyer arrives and tells him he is going to receive a large sum of money from an unknown source and he must go to London to become a gentleman. Finn is working with his Uncle when a Lawyer tells him that an unknown benefactor is offering him the chance to have a gallery show in New York so he can become an artist.
   Estella is the daughter of Magwitch and Mr. Jagger's housemaid. She is not related to Lustig.
   Magwitch is wanted in England and plans to escape by boat. Lustig has some unsavory people after him and he plans to fly to Paris after meeting with Finn.
   Magwitch is captured trying to escape and returned to prison. He dies shortly before his execution. Lustig is pursued by some gangsters. He manages to elude them by jumping on a train. An unknown man comes by and stabs him in the side. He dies in the train in Finn's arms.
   Estella's husband dies. He lives, but they get a divorce.
   Pop has a confrontation with Miss Havisham about Estella and she ends up catching on fire. She later dies from her injuries. Dinsmoor dies while Finn is in Paris.
   Pip finds Estella in the ruins of the Satis House. There is the suggestion that Pip and Estella will marry. She has no children. Finn goes to Paradiso Perduto and sees a little girl who reminds him of Estella. It turns out to be Estella's daughter. They reconcile and hold hands.
