Hitchcock decides that it would be great to kill off the leading lady early in the film. It is his wife, Alma's suggestion.
The screenwriter, Stefano has meetings with a psychoanalyst but that is all that is mentioned. Stefano tells Hitchcock about his sessions. He indicates that he talks about sex, rage and his mother.
Vera Miles realizes how unhappy Hitchcock is with her as she notes the unflatering underwear she is supposed to wear. While doing this, Hitchcock watches her through a peephole in the wall.
This does not happen. Hitchcock believes that his wife is having an affair with the writer Whitfield Cook.
