   Ellie is taken to schools and hospitals as part of an outreach program. This does not happen.
   When Ellie is old and gray she meets Jakob and his daughter. Jakob is happy now with his new family. Ellie is credited for saving Jakob and allowing him to start a new family. This does not happen.
   After the cats Stella and Emmett die, Tinkerbell (the remaining cat) gives Ellie much more attention. Maya does not have any cats.
   After 7-8 years of retirement Ellie is at a school visiting children where a boy goes missing. Ellie finds him in a storm drain. Ellie jumps into the drain when the boy is washed away. They are both rescued by police officers after they're swept into an open drainage area. Maya and Ellie are officially commended. This does not happen.
   Maya and Albert have a girl named Gabriella. Maya and Al have three kids who enjoy playing with the dogs.

. . . adding much to the overall story. The grandparents had nothing to do with Ethan's immediate family's cats; I'm pretty sure I remember there having been a shy cat, a barn cat, at the Farm. This cat wasn't memorable, either.

In the book, Ethan's family has a cat named Smokey. Smokey eventually dies, and the humans bury him, and Bailey mentions that on the following day, he decides to dig the cat up. He couldn't understand why they'd buried a perfectly good dead cat. But this is just an aside, only one (short) paragraph, and we don't hear about any repercussions of Bailey's grave-robbing exploit. Some time later, Ethan gave his mother a replacement cat. This cat was Felix. I don't recall Felix adding much to
